Jeremy Is Up Way Too Late (/Early)
Set out to catch up on some writing late tonight and two hours later all I had to show for it was my very first meme. Was it wrong of me to think that the meme generation needed a cheat for Quincy Jones? Without knowing he’s the one with a front row seat to this “mindblowing in 1994” action, the funny level of this meme isn’t near as high (who knows, maybe it’s not even funny as it is now?)

UWTL and checking out some stuff on This is pretty great stuff on youtube for a change. This little web series is pretty great stuff. I warn you, you watch this one you’ll have to watch all six. Stiller got turned on to these guys and is producing their second season.

Over the last few months, during this tumultuous and shockingly poor Lakers season, I have become absolutely obsessed with the coverage of this circus on ESPNLA.COM.  If you don’t feel like you have enough poetic waxing on the sorry state of the Lakers in your life, I highly recommend you get into this.

Now excuse me as I cry myself to sleep as a result of tonight’s loss.

Kobe Bryant

Still coping with the fallout of Philgate 2012, but regardless of what the pundits are saying, what a classy guy PJ remains after all this.

This looks much betta than the last one.  UWTL and officially stoked.

UWTL thinking about how 1985 was a pretty good year for Steven Spielberg, producing THE GOONIES, BACK TO THE FUTURE and directing THE COLOR PURPLE.  Not such a bad year for myself either, as I was born just under the cutoff, a couple weeks before 1986 rolled around.

THE GOONIES is def a huge favorite of mine and in recent years I’ve been wanting to dress up for Halloween as a certain lovable big guy from the film.  During a little video research into the pretty simple but cool costume, I came across this silly low budget gem of a music vid for Cindy Lauper’s title track, “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough”.  I’d never seen this before, but it’s pretty fun.  A super cheesy ode to the good enoughness of those who never say die.  Definitely the most prestigious thing Josh Brolin, Martha Plimpton and Sean Astin have ever done.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did/ feel free to share your Goonie memories below.

Was looking for something Paul Ryan-y to post and came across this gem of a CBS news brief.  Funny that it takes politics to give Will.I.Am a credibility boost, funnier that it takes politics to confirm Kid Rock has little to no credibility.

I don’t believe that the Democratic side has much of an advantage in policy or strategy, but at least they have supporters with some sort of tangible and intelligent agenda as opposed to “It’s a little difficult to put myself in this position knowing I might alienate a few fans…I’m glad we elected our first black president, aight. I’m sorry he didn’t do a better job.”   What a joke this whole circus is when this apathetic individual finds himself giving a shout out to the architect of the Black Eyed Peas.

UWTL feeling so pumped for this tomorrow, or should I say tonight?  6 or 7 years ago a little film came into my life and rocked my world.  That little low budget detective movie called BRICK was about as great of a thing as I’d ever seen.  It was directed by an impressive newcomer named Rian Johnson and this bigger, better, badder flick is his 3rd feature go round (see the tragically overlooked THE BROTHERS BLOOM for evidence of his whereabouts in between).  If you believe in genre cinema, or quality film making or big visual ideas, you too will see this movie this weekend or in the weeks to come.  The future of not anywhere near awful movies depends on it.

See this F#%$er and see it in 70mm!!!
